Comment on the Jehovah’s Witness Statement on Abuse

1.     A nothing statement

2.     They protect children how they want to protect children outside the laws of the land.

3.     Nothing statement, they do not recognize any authority other than the GB.  The “elders” may not shield but fully protect any JW pedophile with their current policies.

4.     This is just a plain outright misrepresentation of fact.  Thousands have routinely been discouraged from reporting to not bring reproach on Jehovah. Families are punished for not trusting in Jehovah when they report.

5.     I would like to see one actual case of elders reporting a JW abuser in a non-reporting state.  Why do elders call they branch?  Why not simply report all allegations to police?  Why all these hoops to jump through?

6.     Parents are told to report all abuse to elders.  Thus their authority to deal with it is taken away.  You cannot have it both ways.

7.     By not giving children a place to be children at church, they foment abuse by having children in constant association with all members.  They have to trust everyone and thus are far more susceptible to abuse.

8.     Elders have no concept on how to counsel abuse survivors.  The home office says read a scripture, say a prayer and tell them to sell more books and wait for the paradise earth to fix all their problems.  This destroys self-worth and self-esteem as they are basically told because they are defective that is the reason they are having problems.

9.     For years they actually did and as a result, did damage to thousands of children.  How are three old men who have never had training in criminal investigation allowed to question a child and then discuss the child’s evidence with the molester?  This is plain and simple obstruction of justice.

10. Child abuse is a CRIME.  After the criminal has been dealt with only then should elders have any involvement in church sanctions.  Finally, how do you determine repentance for a person that has destroyed the life of a child?  Is repentance that they are really, really sorry???

11. How can elders monitor pedophiles?  They cannot in any way offer the protection of actual authorities.  Janitors are not mentally quipped to be policemen to pedophiles.

12. A carefully worded statement to allow them to reappoint any pedophile that they wish while making members believe this is a rare occurrence.  Not….. The pedophile I reported had privileges back after molesting multiple times and lying to two judicial committees within four months.  To this day he remains a JW in good standing and freely has access to children.

13. I wonder how many congregation members will ever actually see this document or know that it even exists.  Why not post it on all information boards worldwide?  Why don’t they?  Because it inhibits the pedophile paradise.
