Question
I finally got the guts to report my abuse to police in my city and they told me the statute of limitations was up, so it was too late to criminally prosecute the scumball who molested me and my sister.
Is there a time limit on civil cases?
Answer
There is, in fact, a statute of limitation on both criminal and civil legal action where sexual assault or molestation has occurred.
These statutes vary state by state, sometimes WILDLY. (example- Alaska has NO limitation, (thatÂ’s right, NO AGE LIMIT), while in Louisiana you must be under the age of NINETEEN.)
